What makes good design?

For me,it depends on what is aesthetically pleasing to a fairly large group of people. Others will like your design depending on their personal likes and dislikes their personal taste and style, so what makes a good designer would be someone that can hack into those people's personas and mold their research into something that will attract their target market. Good design also depends on wether you have brought your point across clearly and wether you have used your theme of design in an innovative and/or functional way. It also depends on wether your materials, tools and methods suit the look and feel for your type of design. Good design is original, and it is something that will interest not only one group or type of people.
